That, in a nutshell, is my story too!
My journey has been marked by both triumph and challenge. Born in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, my early life was a mix of adventure and difficulty. I grew up surrounded by nature, curiosity, and animals (don’t hesitate to ask about the cats and chickens!). However, I also faced personal hardships, including early childhood trauma that stayed with me for decades. These experiences shaped who I am, fostering resilience and a deep understanding of the human spirit.
As I moved through life, my career spanned diverse industries, each one contributing to my understanding of leadership and growth. I always enjoyed my career in IT, yet there were moments when I felt something was missing. Along the way, I took an unexpected detour—owning and managing a large-scale olive farm in the south of France in paralel to my day-job. Managing everything from production to sales and becoming the region’s largest olive tree wholesaler taught me lessons about patience, adaptability, and the importance of long-term vision.
And yet, at the same time, I thrived in the fast-paced world of tech, where I led global teams and spearheaded innovative projects, balancing the scale of operations with the human side of leadership.
This experience equips me to help leaders like you think through complex situations and make decisions that align with your values and broader vision.
My love for adventure extended beyond the professional realm. I’ve always been drawn to experiences that challenge the body and mind. Whether it’s traveling across continents with my wife and two daughters, hiking off the beaten track with friends, engaging in deep one-on-one conversations about life’s complexities, or practicing yoga and learning to meditate with Buddhist monks at Lerab Ling—the world’s largest Tibetan temple outside Tibet, just a 30-minute drive from my home—I’ve found ways to ground myself amidst the pressures of leadership.
Music, too, has been a guiding force—classical concerts, theatre, and museums reconnect me with the emotional depth of the human experience, while technology keeps my curiosity alive, always inviting new possibilities.
My ability to stay curious and connected to the emotional aspects of life enables me to support you with empathy as you navigate leadership challenges.
But life also brought significant challenges. The unresolved difficulties from my childhood eventually led to a challenging period that required deep personal growth and reflection during what was the most exciting part of my career. Victoriously emerging from this three-year journey, I found myself in a phase of introspection and recalibration, prompting me to reevaluate my path and seek a deeper alignment between my work and personal values.
This journey taught me that true success isn’t just about achieving (often short term) goals—it’s about finding meaning and fulfillment along the way.
This realization led me to pivot my career, and today, as a certified professional coach, I’m here to help you do the same. I provide leaders like you with the guidance and tools to navigate your own challenges and make decisions that resonate with your core values.
